Have you been searching for the perfect Southwestern retreat? Enjoy the serene beauty of southern New Mexico!

The cultural history of Deming goes back at least 1,000 years to when the Mimbres Indians lived along the banks of the Mimbres River. Many centuries later, American settlers came to this area of New Mexico and the city of Deming was officially founded in 1881. The town grew quickly as the railroad brought more settlers to the Southwest. Deming's downtown district has retained some of the flavor of those early days with its many registered historic properties.

Imagine searching for desert rocks, quartz crystals and semi-precious gems at Rockhound State Park or exploring the tranquil wilderness of Spring Canyon State Park. During hunting season, you may encounter ibex, elk and bear in addition to deer and game birds.

If golf is your game, you'll love the 18-hole course at the Rio Mimbres Country Club. It offers a challenging game, and is open all year round.

After a day outdoors, drop by the St. Clair Vineyards just east of Deming for a glass of their award-winning wine, and visit their annual festival in October. Art lovers will want to take in an exhibit at the Deming Center for the Arts, which features exhibits by Native American, southwestern and local artists.

You'll find plenty of festivals on the city's calendar throughout the year which celebrate many cultures, including Cinco de Mayo festivities, a Czechoslovakian barbecue in the fall, and the annual Christmas Light Parade and Luminaria Display in December.

Deming is a great place to be any time of the year! At an altitude of over 4300 feet, you'll enjoy warm days and comfortably cool nights in the summer, with very low humidity. Winter is especially pleasant with clear sunny weather and temperatures ranging from 30-60 degrees.

Deming is the county seat of Luna County and the largest community in the area, with a population of nearly 15,000. Its major industry is tourism, and visitors and residents alike enjoy all of the shopping, restaurants and services the city has to offer. The cost of living is reasonable in Deming and an incredibly low tax rate makes this area especially attractive to retirees. The city has enormous potential, and plenty of business opportunity for the entrepreneur.

Discover the tranquility of New Mexico. Don't wait - start living your dream today!
